Snyder Residence, Jamaica Plain, MA

The client relocated from Connecticut to Boston, into a much smaller house. Since the owner had a connection to the clothing and design industry, Off the Grid had an opportunity to provide an upscale design and convert several existing bedrooms into a master suite with an extraordinary boutique-style closet. After a careful inventory of all clothing, shoes, and accessories, we offered a design that provided ample storage and display space. With one full wall of framed mirror, a central island with drawers for accessories, skylights, and pendant and touch-sensitive lighting, we created a beautiful and functional space for dressing. Some storage tastefully spilled over into the bedroom area with built-in casework, and we provided a built-in flat-screen TV and soundbar at the client’s request. We also took over the original closet and bathroom to create a truly grand and stylish modern bath.

Because other parts of the house didn’t reflect the client’s style, OTG discussed ideas for pulling together the whole look. We modernized the living room by replacing the fireplace mantle and building out space above the mantle for a built-in flat-screen TV, sound bar, and audio equipment. We also replaced light fixtures, sinks, cabinets, faucets, and wall color in the two remaining bathrooms to upgrade their look. The total revamp of the master suite and closet, and the small changes made to key areas of the house, all made it feel like the new home was truly the client’s style!
